I agree, our foods have always been  nutritious and healthy . These are foods that have evolved with our ancestors, but didn't have to face the music of an over exploding population. It was designed as per the season and climatic conditions then and punched in the  right nutrition.

With the ever changing dynamics of weather, food adaptabilty is the cue. And vegan  diet might just solve some poignant problems

As we dig deeper on vegan and its nutritional value, we probably also need to think...how sustainable is vegan? How is its adaptability  to the future!!?

YES.....sustainibilty is the cornerstone of going the vegan way.

Some other factors that contribute are

  1. Going vegan reduces the green house gases, the major pollutants of modern era. The reduction in animal based food processing brings down these gases, targeting the problem at its root.
  2. It also reduces energy and water consumption.

3. It stabilises the ocean. The discarded remnants of animal food processing, end up in ocean endangering the marine life ,  which are later consumed by us too.

4. Going vegan saves the rainforest, by untimely extra grazing of the cattle for the meat industry and thereby importantly  saves the soil..  lesser the soil is stressed, better is the healing of soil.

  •   better soil captures carbon and prevents it from going back to the environment

The spectrum of veganism is vast and extends to many to many off beat  food and non food products too.

The ever- so popular  honey that gets drizzled on to every breakfast  bowl or used generously in baking or desserts, is a non vegan product too .

It can be substituted  using date syrup, maple syrup . Theres also an option to make our home made vegan honey using apple juice.

The vegan revolution is also slowly  picking up in the textile industry too.

The elegant  silk sarees coming from silk worms , are slowly facing stiff competition  from the vegan silk sarees; woven from banana stalk. The sarees , go well and beyond in ticking all the right boxes in terms of shine, colors and softness and durability.

Vegan bags and belts are another sea change slowly coming to us. Animals are scathed for their skins to provide us with the swanky bags and belts. The vegan bags and belts , made sturdily, can last as long  as the leather ones too.

I tried to touch upon an variety of products, just to show the spectrum of veganism.

If we want to look at this in a larger perspective , vegan also bats well for sprituality.

Live and let  live  gets wonderfully echoed  in vegan foods.

As the adage goes its never too late to make  a positive change in yourself  to make the future  better .let's try to work and make it happen
